Module Comment Codes
These codes explain what a module outcome means and whether further action, repetition, or School contact is required.
| Code | Meaning | Description |
|---|---|---|
| SC | Repeat or sit failed components without penalty | Applied when one or more assessment components have not been passed, but the next attempt is treated as a first attempt so the mark/grade is not capped. |
| SC5 | Repeat or sit failed components without penalty - contact School | As above, but students are advised to contact their School because it may not be fully clear which components must be repeated. |
| RC | Repeat failed components | Applied when one or more assessment components have not been passed. Any repeat attempt is capped. |
| RC5 | Repeat failed components - contact School | As above, but students are advised to contact their School for further information where the repeat requirement may need clarification. |
| REO | Repeat examination only | Applied where the Module Assessment Board determines that only the examination must be repeated. |
| RCO | Repeat CA only | Applied where the Module Assessment Board determines that only the continuous assessment component(s) must be repeated. |
| RMI | Repeat module internally | Applied where the failed component pattern means the whole module must be repeated internally. |
| EG | Exemption granted | Used to show that a module exemption has been granted. |
| (C) | Pass by compensation | Exam board decision |
| FN | Fail (no repeat) | Applied where programme- or module-specific regulations mean there are no further repeat opportunities. |
| PEND | Result pending | Applied where a mark or grade is not yet available at the Module Assessment Board and the board must reconvene when it is available. |
